The Engineering Construction Industry (ECI) Training & Development Awards 2023 has revealed three regional winners of the International Training Provider of the Year category.
The ECI Awards, hosted by the UK Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB) to celebrate industry success, has been a highlight in industry calendars for over a decade.
Bringing together industry leaders, influencers and policy makers, as well as the rising stars of training and development, the event showcases achievements across the engineering construction industry.
This year, the industry will raise a toast to excellence surrounded by the rich maritime history of the Cutty Sark in London, which is hosting the awards ceremony on 2 November.
The winners of the nine categories will be announced at the ceremony, but in recognition of the growing provision of ECITB approved training across the globe, three international regional winners have been announced. The overall winner chosen from these three is invited to attend the ceremony at the Cutty Sark to be presented with their award in person.
The International Training Provider of the Year award, sponsored by Petrotekno, seeks to acknowledge and celebrate excellence in the delivery of ECITB approved training, products and services by an ECITB Global licensed international training provider or centre.
When deciding on the regional and overall winners, a multitude of factors were considered by an ECITB panel, including delivery numbers, quality of training, demonstrating equality and diversity, innovation and ambition, interaction with the ECITB, collaboration and the value they add overall to their respective markets.
The panel felt that the below three winners were exemplars in their regions this year.
Middle East and Caspian Regional Winner 2023 – Vibrant Global
Qatar’s Vibrant Global has been delivering bespoke training, inspection and consultancy services from its facility in Doha for over a decade, gaining numerous international accreditations.
It became an ECITB Licensed Training Provider in 2022, delivering the International Health and Safety Passport, Excavation Supervisor, Flagman and Working in Confined Spaces courses primarily for the Qatari Government’s Civils contractors.
ECITB Head of Commercial Tristan Kemp, who was part of the judging panel, said: “Vibrant Global places safety training at the heart of everything it does and is steadfastly committed to providing the highest levels of customer service for its clients.
“It has been a keen and forward-leaning ECITB licensee, and we’ve been impressed with the inroads it has been making in the Qatari market. Always open to new ideas, with a willingness to make suggestions and find the best ways to do business, Vibrant has been a stand-out training provider for the ECITB and particularly so in 2023, which is why it is wholly deserving of being the regional winner in the Middle East and Caspian region.”
East Africa and Rest of the World Regional Winner 2023 – 3t EnerMech
3t EnerMech is a joint venture between 3t Energy Group and EnerMech, delivering accredited learning solutions, with a strong emphasis on safety, to the oil and gas industry, such as with Shell, Chevron, Baker Hughes, BP, Total Energies, Aramco and Schlumberger.
Having originally approached the ECITB in 2021 to discuss its ambitions in a new venture in Guyana, 3t EnerMech gained its Licensed Training Provider status early in 2022.
Working closely with the Guyanese Government, 3t EnerMech commenced delivery of ECITB Global’s International Health and Safety Passport and the International Competence in Engineering Construction (ICE) qualifications.
“3t EnerMech quickly established itself as a key player in the Guyanese Government’s future ambitions for the country’s development and upskilling of the local workforce in engineering construction,” said Tristan. “This entrepreneurial approach, willingness to push on, consistent delivery of high-quality training and healthy collaborative working with ECITB Global at each stage contributed to 3t EnerMech becoming a regional winner in our awards for the second year in a row.”
Asia Pacific Regional Winner 2023 – BJ Services (M) Sdn Bhd
BJ Services (M) Sdn Bhd is based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and provides a full range of oilfield services, including cementing and simulation services, as well as providing supplies related materials.
It has been providing ECITB training since 2015 and offers a full spectrum of mechanical joint integrity training and testing and delivers the International Health and Safety Passport.
“Bringing the two together under the ECITB’s unique International Competency in Engineering (ICE) certification scheme, BJ Services is an integral and constant part of Malaysia’s oil and gas industry,” said Tristan.
